Supporting Ultimate Regionally Vital International Vulnerable Available Livelihoods
The Carpathians are a mountain system that covers the territory of 8 countries. Many amazing cultural and natural phenomena have been preserved in the Carpathian region – one of such riches is virgin forests. The virgin forests are ancient forests, which, due to their mountainous location, have not been touched by human hand and natural disasters. In such forests, even sanitary logging is legally prohibited, it is a unique object that desperately needs to be protected – and yet its territory in Ukraine decreases every year.
In other countries, experts, government and business are involved in forest conservation – for example, in September 2020, WWF Romania and the local Armenian community in the field of sustainable architecture began construction of the first campus for cooperation between Carpathian cities and towns. In the heart of the Carpathians, the WeWilder innovation center is being created, where companies, entrepreneurs, freelancers and artists will meet in the future, surrounding themselves with an atmosphere of sustainable development and the forces of nature. We are sure that in such an atmosphere, outstanding “green” projects will be born!
Such projects are also being created in Ukraine. During #EURegionsWeek, Ruslana will present her project: “Is SURVIVAL (Supporting Ultimate Regionally Vital International Vulnerable Available Livelihoods) under Net-Zero Emissions (N0E) possible?”. It aims to preserve the landscape and biological diversity of the Carpathians through the restoration of terrestrial ecosystems.
